Know Your canary

Canary introduced by seafarers French, Jean de Berthan cout on the canary islands in the XV century. Impressed by the beauty of the feathers and the sonority of his voice, he then sold the bird to Spain and some in Europe.


Today, the canaries were descendants of wild canary named latin Serinus canarius. Number of species that exist today is through a process, mainly due to natural conditions and crossbreeding that occurred since 5 centuries ago.

Canary birds spread to various regions with different climates, making the canary of environmental adapt. This had the effect of several different bird species. In addition to adapt, those differences could be due to interbreed with other birds. Until now, hundreds of species of birds have been there and this canary is the result of intercrossing.
